Content Delivery System (CDS)

A system designed to serve information (content) to the public or large audience all at the same time with high availability and high performance. This systems can serve a large fraction of the Internet content today, including web objects (text, graphics and scripts), downloadable objects (media files, software, documents), applications (e-commerce, portals), live streaming media and on-demand streaming media to display technology such as bill-board sized LED displays, networked display monitors or any display devices that is able to received the content through network.. 

The "public" in this case is heterogeneous and consists of private people and households, businesses and other organizations, and government agencies. Each member of the public may use the system in a different role, depending on the member's needs at the time of use

In airports, presenting the arrival and departure information on monitors and electronic boards is essential for the smooth operation of the airport. Train stations also need this information. Sometimes major sport events and public gatherings will make use of public information systems.  Motorways have gantry displays for the latest situation or speed restrictions.
